Government institutions are run by bureaucrats who are responsible to no one and often ill-treat their clients. Corporations must make profit a priority over service. The government closes hospitals even though local people are willing to support these institutions. Banks close branches even though people prefer they remain open. None of this would happen with MUTUAL AID SOCIETIES, since they are owned and controlled by the clients...

It is not some "great idea" existing only in the imagination, but is found almost everywhere. Around the world, some ONE BILLION people belong to mutual aid societies and co-operatives. One organization alone, Quebec's CAISSE POPULAIRE DESJARDINS has 5 million members and is the LARGEST financial institution in the province. Surely, if health care, unemployment insurance and social security were run as well as your average Caisse, there would be few complaints.
